Léran is a busy farming village in a traditional and unspoilt part of rural southwest France. With a population of about 600, it has a Château and a boulangerie, restaurant, post office, Mairie, primary school and a lively bar, which serves excellent food. There is a village tennis court (to which we have a key) and a football pitch.

On Friday evenings in July and August the centre of the village is sealed off, stall-holders set up, and several hundred people pitch up for the Marché Gourmand, eating at trestle tables set up by the Mairie. There is often a band, and the evening turns into a massive party.
